Teal Shimmer

Very sorry about the awful lighting in this picture. I'm far from pro when taking photographs and I only use natural lighting and since it's so dull outside I struggled to get a clear picture, boooo. But hopefully you get the general idea, haha.

Using more of the Anastasia Beverly Hills single eyeshadows. I used a couple again that I used in my last look because they're my favourites, hah. Sorry about that. I hope this image does these colours and shadow quality justice!

Barbara Carranza Professional Tweezers: Product Info and Review

We all know how the importance of brows has grown massively in recent years, with trends, tips and techniques being shared everywhere a makeup lover or MUA could possibly turn and what a brilliant thing they are. Importantly, the right tools are an essential to achieve your desired brow style, and today I'm posting about one of my favourites - the Barbara Carranza Professional Tweezers.

Known to frame and instantly transform the face, a well groomed brow can be vital. For me, I have extremely fair, sparse and admittedly over-plucked brows that I have to heavily fill in to make a difference to my face and makeup looks. This can be a burden, as on days when I'd like to put in minimal effort I still have to put the time into making sure my brows are pretty symmetrical. On the plus side, I like that I can easily experiment with different brows shapes and styles without my natural brows really getting much in the way.

Over the passed couple of months I have favored my Barbara Carranza tweezers over my usual go-to Anastasia Beverly Hills ones. Don't get me wrong, the Anastasia Beverly Hills tweezers are brilliant and will remain a staple in my brow kit, but these ones are on a whole different level which I'd put down to their ingenious shape.

I'm the kind of person that as soon as I feel the tiniest prickle of brow hair start poking back out of my skin it has to go as soon as possible, or it will annoy the hell out of me until it's gone. Hence why I always make sure I carry a spare pair of tweezers in my handbag! And plucking out those almost none-existence regrowth's has proven tricky in the past with regular shaped tweezers. As you can see in these images, the Barbara Carranza tweezers angle off at 90 degrees and comes down to a very fine point, much like an L-shape.

The flat surface makes it incredibly easy to track down the finest of hairs including those super annoying invisible ones that normally hang around lower down the brow bone, and the pointed tip makes the challenge of grasping the shortest regrowth's easier than ever. Another thing that I love about the unique shape of these tweezers is they make the job of applying false lashes even simpler, giving me way more control over the placement. So a great little multitasker all round.

The tweezers also come with a little straight forward step-by-step guide demonstrating how to make the most of them, which I found really handy as it was my first time using this style of tweezer.

At £15, they are more than I would normally consider spending on a pair of tweezers but I can confidently say that these are amazing value for money and are a must-have for any brow-pro! You can purchase them now over at www.barbaracarranza.com.

Ventriloquist Dummy

There's only 3 days to go until Halloween, and yesterday I did my own take on one of my favourite makeup looks that can be seen a lot around this time of year within the makeup community - the creepy ventriloquist's dummy... And perfect timing for the new Annabelle movie!

The makeup is actually pretty straightforward and didn't take me much time at all, which is great for anybody that needs a last-minute costume idea. No SFX needed and only uses basic products that pretty much any makeup lover will have lying around. Throw on a cute dress and pigtails or bunches and there you have it - one quick yet effective creepily cute dummy costume.

Below I will do a breakdown of each section of the face to try and make it simpler, even though products will be repeated. If there's any other questions you'd like to know about this look or the products I used then feel free to drop a comment below!

Blood Thirsty

Threw together something a little bit creepier and vampiric this aftertoon since Halloween is right around the corner, yay! Had a lot of fun with this even though it would of looked so much cooler with fake blood but I was unprepared, boooooo. Also realized when I was editing this that I wish I had blacked out my eyebrows too to make it way more gothic but I was still happy with how it turned out nonetheless.

Wouldn't really recommend wearing a liquid lipstick along your lower lashline for any amount of time though, but it seemed to do the trick!

EYES:
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Waterproof Creme Color in 'Jet' all over lid as a base
  • Concrete Minerals Pro Matte Eyeshadow in 'Jet' all over lid and blended lightly along lower lash line

Dress Your Face

My first look at the brand new Tamanna palette - an exciting collaboration between Anastasia Beverly Hills and stunning MUA artist +DressYourFace!

It's finally officially Autumn (even though here in England we're clinging onto the last bit of Summer for as long as we can) and this palette has some perfect shades that drop right into the current popular Fall trends and I couldn't resist putting a few of them to good use today.

Neon Orange

Simple neon orange look using the amazing 'Saffron' loose pigment by ColourChase Cosmetics. I applied the pigment wet on top of a primer to achieve maximum colour payoff and slightly blended out any harsh lines. Easy peasy!

Applied a graphic-style liner to give the look a little bit of something else as it was so straight-forward with very few products needing to used. Also strayed away from false lashes this time just to make sure the liner was fully visible. Sometimes less is more!

EYES:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden
  • ColourChase Cosmetics Ultra Rich Pigment in 'Saffron' all over lid
  • Eyeko Visual Eyes Liquid Eyeliner in 'Ebony' to plot out eyeliner
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Waterproof Creme Color in 'Jet' placed over liquid liner to create matte effect and to line upper waterline

Smokey Peach And Vivid Blues

Weeeee, I'm excited to finally back blogging again after taking a stupidly long unexpected hiatus and I have some great new things to post about!

First off is a brand that was new and unheard of to me until I was contacted by them a few weeks ago. Lila'lli is a cosmetic brand based right here in the UK who specialise in creating high-quality products that are both multi-functional and multi-tasking. Featured below is an example of their Line.Define.Fill. product - a new generation of pencil that is available in a range of shades and colours that can be used either on the eyes, lips and brows.

Lila'lli also provide Lip Collision; a handy lipstick/lipgloss combination, Pigment Infusion; a pressed powder to be used to highlight, contour and colour various areas of the face such as eyes, lips and cheeks and also a selection of false lashes. Well worth checking out if you're on a tight budget and need products that can be used for just about anything.

Secondly, I'm really excited to play around with the gorgeous Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Maya Mia' palette and their brand new Waterproof Creme Color - both used in the look below - which is a smudge and crease proof cream product that can be used as an intense eyeshadow base or alone as an eyeliner as I did here.

What do you think? Do you like the look of these new products? I'm very impressed with them so far!

Amethyst

I recently got a brand new stunning Amythest Nugget necklace and La Lune bangle from the wonderful Noctua, and I love them so much that I was inspired to do my makeup to go with them!

I used purple shades inspired by the Amethyst crystal (ones of my favourites) and a subtle sparkly silver glitter (the moon!) to help really pull the whole look together.

Here are photos of both of the pieces that inspired this look. The silver La Lune bangle can be found HERE for only £6.50, and the Amethyst Nugget Necklace can be found HERE for £10. Noctua have an amazing selection of stunning unique crystal jewelry at great prices. Check out what else they have in store because there is definitely something for everybody to fall in love with!

Electric

My favourite favourite favourite ever matte electric blue eyeshadow by Concrete Minerals! I've never found such a pigmented blue before that doesn't fade after a few minutes of putting it on but this stuff is on fiiiire!

Also wearing my awesome black contact lenses from EyeCandys to take away some of the blue from my eyes so that the eyeshadow looks even more awesome and vivid. Sometimes the simplest of looks make the biggest statement...

Fresh Greens

Keeping it fresh today with leafy emeralds and vivid yellow seeing as it's almost summer time, yaaay!

Green has always been one of my favourite colours and I find that slightly softer and more wearable shades similar to these are complimentary to most skin tones (Not too gaudy, unless of course you're braver than I am and that's your thang!)

Goth Glitter Lips

Just a little something for fun today: decided to finally jump on the black lip bangwagon!

I don't own a black lipstick (yet!) but I was inspired to make do and mend with what I already have after seeing a lot of photos of the new Lime Crime 'Black Velvet' Velvetine and Melt Cosmetics 'Bane' lipsticks. I used my Inglot AMC Gel Eyeliner all over the lips and decided to crank it up by applying a black and silver glitter eyeliner over the top.

I wouldn't recommend wearing a black gel eyeliner on the lips for any length of time, but like I said this was just for fun. Definitely invest in a matte black lipstick if you want something long-wearing.

LIPS:
  • Inglot #77 AMC Gel Eyeliner
  • Collection (formally 'Collection 2000) Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in 'Rock Chick'

Burnt Orange

Went back to my Anastasia Beverly Hills Lavish Palette today to crease this nice and warm smokey eye, which was a very easy and quick look to throw together.

Seeing as there is only one primary colour used, the only key to getting this look right is to make sure that everything is blended out nicely. I decided to use tape for the sharp outer edge just to give the look a little bit more shape and definition, but for an even more effortless result just skip that part.

Teamed this up with some lush long lashes from Eldora to add a little bit more depth to the look. I love love love burnt orange shades for summer!

EYES:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Orange Soda' eyeshadow (from the 'Lavish' palette) blended into crease and lower lash line

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Cream' eyeshadow (from the 'Lavish' palette) to highlight brow bone
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Black Diamond' eyeshadow (from the 'Lavish' palette) to VERY lightly deepen outer corner and lower lash line
  • Inglot AMC Gel Eyeliner in #77 to line eyes and upper and lower waterlines

Acids

Happy May! I hope the month is treating everybody well so far and that all of my Brit readers have enjoyed their bank holiday.

When I was looking around online earlier - just browsing drugstore makeup - I came across the Sleek i-Divine Acid palette. I don't own this palette but I was inspired by some of the insanely eye-catching colours that are included inside of it. I dug out my makeup boxes to see if I could find anything that looks similar, and settled for a few of my Concrete Minerals Pro Matte Loose Eyeshadows to put together this edgy acid-inspired look.

I was having trouble finding a matte green shadow that I was happy with, so I thought I'd create my own instead of settling for an alternative. I combined a small amount of an electric cobalt blue loose shadow with a super bright yellow shade - which I also used alone on the inner half of the lid and lower lash line - and mixed them together until I had the green shade that I had in mind.

Making up your own colours by mixing loose shadows and pigments is waaay more fun anyway! I really enjoyed playing with such bright colours again and now wanna see what other customized eyeshadow colours I can create!

Eyeliner In 4 Easy Steps: Featuring Eyeko Visual Eyes

When I rave about a new product, I rave about it for a reason. So now you can see for yourself exactly why I am in absolute adoration with the new Eyeko Visual Eyes Liquid Liners that I've posted about the past couple of days.

I've always liked to spend a LOT of time trying to perfect my winged liner, and please believe me when I say I have never found applying eyeliner so easy as I do when I use these liquid eyeliners. I already have quite a popular eyeliner pictorial, but I've decided to simplify it even further by demonstrating how you can achieve the perfect cat eye in just 4 easy steps.

For this pictorial I used the Eyeko Visual Eyes Liquid Eyeliner in 'Ebony'.

  1. Starting from the inner corner of the eye, create a thin line all the way across the upper lash line, gradually building up thickness to your own preference.
  2. Create a thin line as an extension from your lower waterline, heading up toward the tail of your eyebrow.
  3. Placing your pen or brush at the tip of the line you just extended out, bring the liner back on itself and join it up to the line you created along the lash line.
  4. Fill in the gap that is left, go back and neaten things up if need, apply mascara and you're all done!
